Hampton Court Palace -- Monday

We went to Hampton Court Palace on Monday.  It was originally built for Cardinal Wolsey, during the reign of King Henry VIII.  It was eventually handed to the King when Wolsey fell from favor. Several other royals have lived in the palace, including Henry VIII's wives and children, William and Mary, King George II and Queen Caroline, and several others.  It was also used as a meeting place for James II and also for Oliver Cromwell. It was also the place where Charles I was imprisoned before his execution.

These are stained glass windows located in the Great Watching Chamber.  This is in King Henry VIII's apartments.

We didn't know that people walk around in costumes acting like the Kings and Queens that once called the palace home.  This man was acting like King Henry VIII just before his death, when he was very sick.  This man did not want to be looked in the eye and was very mean.

We were able to walk through the apartments of King Henry VIII, William and Mary, and King George and Queen Caroline.

This is the dressing room of Queen Caroline

This was the bath tub of Queen Caroline.

Hampton Court Palace is very well known for its gardens. We were able to take a carriage ride around the gardens to see all of their beauty.

There is also a shrubbery maze located on the grounds of Hampton Court Palace. Molly and I barely made it out, it took us nearly 45 minutes to find our way out.
