Monday
As usual we had classes from 8:30 to 12:30 in the morning and then lunch right afterwards. After lunch, a big group of us went to Leicister Square to find discount theater tickets. We found tickets for Love Never Dies. Then we headed over to the British Museum. I really liked it; it was so huge. There were exhibits from nearly every continent. I saw several mummies, ancient armor, coins, and clocks. I also saw some very contemporary arts, such as a chair made completely out of weapons. I was also able to see the famous Rosetta Stone. In the middle of all of this seriousness in the museum, Molly, Maegan, and I had a silly moment because we were starting to get a little bored.
Molly, Maegan, and I on the way to the British Museum!
Mummies!!!
Instructions on how to mummify someone, just in case I need to know.
This is probably the coolest clock that I have ever seen!
old Tiffany & Co. cash register
pottery that reminded me of Hercules
armor made out of crocodile skin...
The Rosetta Stone!
And the silliness begins. On my camera I have a panoramic function that allows me to move my camera to the right while taking a picture. You can use this feature when you want to take a continuous picture of a large landscape or building. Molly, Maegan, and I wondered what would happen if I chose this feature and moved my camera while Molly moved so that she stayed in the shot. This is how it turned out...
Then Maegan wanted to try!
The biggest atlases I've ever seen. They nearly came up to my hips!
Hedwig?
This is some contemporary art that I saw in the Africa exhibit. It was so interesting.
After we left the British Museum, Kathleen, Molly, Maegan, and I decided to go have steak for dinner as a way of celebrating the 4th of July. It was so yummy! From there, Molly, Maegan, and I headed over to the Adelphi Theater to watch Love Never Dies. Love Never Dies is the sequel to Phantom of the Opera. OMG, it was so wonderful. First, let me say that we had front row tickets.
That red part is the beginning of the Orchestra Pit.
I was nervous because I thought they would turn out to be bad seats, nope they weren't. They were perfect. I was able to see the beautiful lace on Christine's dress and the gruesome face of the Phantom. The first act seemed to fly by. I was shocked when the house lights came on and it was intermission. I could hardly wait for the second act to begin. The whole show was just so wonderful, it made me cry! When the curtain closed, Maegan, Molly, and I rushed outside to the stage door in hopes of getting pictures and autographs & we did! I was able to get the autograph of Christine and the Phantom. I even got a picture with the Phantom!
He was so amazing. He had the most beautifully smooth voice. He was also very friendly. He waited patiently while we found a pen that would actually work! I am now really glad that I went because I absolutely loved it. I may even go again!
Tuesday
After last night, Molly, Carrie, and I decided to have a "catch up on work" day. We gathered our books and went to Kensington Gardens to do some work. We ended up talking most of the time and not getting anything done. It started to rain a little bit so we had to leave. We ran by the grocery store to grab something to make for dinner. We bought a four cheese pasta sauce and noodles. It was so good. After dinner, I came into my room and started working on some journal entries.
This weekend I go to Ireland to stay with the friend of a lady that I work with. I am becoming very excited!!
First off I will start with saying that the Phantom doesn't look like a Phantom to me.He is quite handsome.I am so happy that you are enjoying your study abroad.I love reading about all that you and your friends have done and the pictures are great as well.Hope your trip to Scotland is going to be just as exciting. We will certainly have to get together after you get home so you can tell me even more.Be safe and I love you.
